25 November – 10 December 2009
The 16 Days of Action is an annual, international campaign which runs from 25th November (International Day to End Violence Against Women) to 10th December (International Human Rights Day). These dates are symbolically linked to emphasise that violence against women is a human rights issue. Since 1991 events and campaigns have been held around the world during the 16 day period to raise awareness about the issue and promote an end to violence against women.
